Global creative director of Fashion Revolution, Orsola De Castro, is one of these trailblazers. Orsola de Castro is an internationally recognised opinion leader in sustainable fashion. Her career started as a designer with the pioneering upcycling label From Somewhere, which she launched in 1997 until 2014. Now, De Castro is the co-founder and creative director of Fashion Revolution; dedicated to the global movement in fashion. She wrote ‘Loved Clothes Last’ in 2021 which explored the myriad ways to mend, re-wear and breathe new life into your wardrobe to achieve a more sustainable lifestyle.

@tiagotcorreia is the CEO of @transcend.pictures , a transmedia entertainment studio, showcasing digital fashion outfits in its creations was one of our fantastic panellists.
@tiagotcorreia was a success with the students.
Along with @ngoni , @adamandrascik and @bfg_graham , he highlighted how we are entering an era where creativity will be the great differentiator, as digital becomes the great equaliser in the fashion industry.

#FashionRevolutionWeek (the world’s largest fashion activism movement) starts this Sunday.
Whether you dedicate ten minutes on your route home from work or five days of intense activism, reflecting on how our fashion choices and the wider fashion industry has an effect on social and environmental change is the first step to real change.
The theme for the 2024 campaign is centred around ‘How to be a Fashion Revolutionary.’
So here goes Last Yarn’s three fashion revolutionary acts:
1. Education: Every morning, make it your goal to read one article related to fashion and the environment. @sourcingjournal is a fab way to get no-nonsense information, or for more fashion-related facts, check out @voguebusiness Business.
2. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: Try to consciously consume as much as possible by restraining from buying unnecessary items and only buying second-hand when required.

Did you know that lace-making dates back to ancient times, with evidence of early forms of lace found in Egyptian tombs dating back to 2500 BCE?
Or that there are various types of lace, including bobbin lace, needle lace, crochet lace, and machine-made lace. Each type has unique characteristics and techniques.
These days, the majority of lace is made from polyester and mass produced. Since this is a petroleum derivative, that is made using a combination of artificial chemicals that are harmful to both planet and people, we would always recommend buying second-hand.

A recent post by @goodonyou_app explained why the mob wives trend is *really* unsustainable.
As @goodonyou_app put it, Micro trends like this encourage consumption as fast fashion profits. Moreover, this trend is focused on harmful materials like animal furs, faux furs made from plastics, and leathers that hurt animals while negatively affecting labour and land.
